Sunset beach sessions are always my favourite. Why do I usually only shoot at sunset? So many reasons. The sun is much lower and creates more flattering light with less harsh shadows. You aren’t squinting nearly as bad. The reflection on the water doesn’t cause the image to become nearly all white and blown out. The beach and most public areas are a little less crowded.

I know we sometimes cut into bed times and sleep routines. And if that’s the case, I usually recommend an area that has a little more shade to help diffuse the light so we can start at an earlier time. This is why I usually start my beach sessions in the long grasses and more shaded areas and then head to the shoreline once the sun is at it’s lowest too.

On a cloudy beach day, I’ll start at any time :P
