FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GENERAL:
How far in advance should I book my session?
Newborns: I recommend booking once you’ve entered the second trimester to guarantee your session spot.
All other sessions: In January I open my booking calendar for the year with an Early Booking Promotion. Many of the prime dates and weekends often get booked up during this time. I always encourage anyone looking for a session with me to book in January so they can take advantage of this promotion and guarantee their preferred dates :)
If you miss the early booking promo, that’s ok! Just book as soon as you are able for the best chance to get your preferred date. I do book up several months in advance (especially during the summer and fall months) but occasionally I have last minute openings, so even if your session is last minute, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
What types of sessions do you offer?
I specialize in maternity, newborn, first birthday / cake smash, milestone baby portraits, children and family sessions.
I also offer engagement/couples, proposals, small weddings/elopements, portrait / business headshots and graduation sessions.
What payment methods do you accept?
Email transfer is preferred but I also accept credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express).
How long does it take to receive my images?
My standard turnaround time is between 3-6 weeks to receive your proofs and 1-3 weeks for your final edited images. These timelines are on the more generous side based on time of year and volume of orders I am working on at the time. I always do my best to get images back as quick as possible without compromising quality.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
I will always be in touch the night before our session to confirm our weather forecast. If we do run into inclement weather or dangerous driving conditions, we can reschedule. I take on a limited number of sessions each month to ensure I have back up dates specifically for this reason. If our weather is looking questionable the night before, I’ll be in touch again in the morning to determine the best plan of action. Sometimes we just need to bump up our session to an earlier time and sometimes we need to completely reschedule.
How far do you travel?
The first 50km from Huntsville are free of charge and there is a $1.25/km +hst (one way) charge thereafter.
Locations that are 3+ hours from Huntsville may require an overnight accommodation fee.
Would you shoot on a boat or a plane or train?
YES! I’m game for shooting just about anywhere you’d like to capture your family’s memories!
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
100000000000000000% YES! Love is love is love is love! I’m hear to capture your unique love and family no matter what what that looks like for you ❤️
And please forgive the lack of diversity in my galleries on this as most of my more recent same sex couples and families have requested their photos stay offline. Might need to do a model call this year :P
Do you offer discounts?
I offer an early booking promotion in January when I open my booking calendar for the year.
I also offer discounts for healthcare, emergency service workers and military all year long. You guys are heroes and I can’t express enough gratitude for all that you do.

Is your studio pet friendly?
Yes .. a few things to consider though as we also have a dog who stays in his kennel on a different floor during sessions. Please inquire for more information if you are interested in bringing your pets to the studio.
NEWBORN:
When should I book my session?
I recommend contacting me once you’ve entered the second trimester to ensure your session spot. Occasionally I do have last minute openings so please reach out! I always try my best to get newborns squeezed in :)
It’s also important to note that there is a little more prep and styling work that goes into a newborn session. You’ll want to have time to go through the prep guides and fill out your styling questionnaire prior to babe arriving if possible.
How old should my baby be for the session?
I recommend coming in within the first 10 days of birth when babies are sleepiest and safest to pose if you are opting for a full styled/posed newborn session. This gives us the best chance for those curled up poses.
Older babies and babies that are just more awake can still be successfully photographed as well! We just modify the poses to ensure their safety and comfort. This usually means more back, wrapped and parent poses for the ones that are more alert.
If you prefer a lifestyle newborn session, anytime in that first month or so is optimal but there is no limit.
Do you supply the props?
YES! I supply everything you need for your baby’s photo session. You are welcome to bring in a couple sentimental items if you’d like but this is totally up to you.
FAMILY/CHILDREN/MATERNITY:
What do we wear?? Do you supply outfits?
Prior to our session, I’ll send you a full prep guide with lots of tips and recommendations on what to wear to best compliment your family and location. You can always send me photos of your options as well if you need some help deciding.
I do offer a client closet with ladies dresses and outfits for children from newborn to 2T. I have a few toddler sizes as well. Once you’ve booked I can send you a link to view the client closet.
I’m nervous in front of the camera, any tips?
Most people that aren’t regularly in front of a camera can be a little nervous. We all take a little time to warm up and that’s totally ok! I normally start our session slow and easy and with some friendly conversation and relaxed photo queues. I find that after about 10/15 minutes most people are much more relaxed and get into the grove and flow of the session.
My kids don’t sit still … my kids are little and don’t take direction yet .. my kids are wild wiggly little things ..
I’ve heard this so many times! Most parents are worried about their littles cooperating. Don’t be! My session flow is relaxed and I let the littles take the lead. We play, we snuggle, we snack and we take breaks if we need to. This allows for some authentic candid moments (which are my fave!) and it also allows your littles ones to warm up to the camera and get comfortable. Eventually we all get a few nice posed photos too but the magic for me is in those playful candid shots.
Prior to our session I’ll also send you a prep guide with lots of tips of how to prepare your little ones prior to meeting.
How do I make the photos reflect my family?
Do them in a location you love and include an activity you guys love. This will ensure some incredible authentic moments together. Ex: Hiking and exploring a favourite trail, fishing off the dock, cottage campfires, guitar sing alongs or canoeing on the river, beach swims, picking wild flowers in a field etc. There’s so many ideas you can incorporate based on your family’s interests.
